Attendance: Pam Gaither, Jessica Lewis , Jeremy Lundgren, Dana Maki, Kathi Morris and Kristen Reed.�

  1. CALL TO ORDER

Kathi Morris called the meeting to order. A motion was made by Dana to approve the October 2016 PTA meeting minutes and seconded by Pam.

  1. PRINICIPAL�S REPORT

Mr. Lundgren provided an update that CMS will provide Chromebooks for the 3rd grade classes. This equipment is expected to be delivered in early 2017. It was explained that parents should be aware of the CMS school reassignment plan. There will be opportunities to attend informational meetings with the district leadership. Phase 1 of the plan will focus on magnet school expansion for 2018-19. Phase II will possibly include additional high schools and the proposed re-opening of schools along with defined� home choice boundaries.

  1. OLD BUSINESS

Track

The track repaving is complete and special dedication ceremony will be held in the Spring of 2017.

 

  1. NEW BUSINESS

Communication

Discussed ways to improve parent communication from PTA. A special thank you to Mr. Price for re-instituting the weekly Sunday evening calls. Need to explore ways to increase readership of MiniNews and ensure all parents are signed up for ListServe. Kristen Reed to create a flyer for Thursday folders which will educate parents how to subscribe. Registration instructions will also be shared on social media. Explore future ideas including small group opportunities to get updates from with school leadership.

Directory

After many challenges in pulling valid data from Pay4School reports, a .pdf version of the school directory is available and will be distributed after Thanksgiving break.

Book Fair

There are a strong number of volunteers from the initial request and Signup Genius. Snack donations are still needed for the Tea for Teachers on November 30. Special sale hours will be held before and after PTA meeting on December 6th. �

Amazon Smile

An account has been created for McKee PTA and a portion of sales from online shoppers at Amazon Smile will be returned to the school. The group discussed ways to promote this easy money opportunity, especially heading into the busy holiday shopping season.
